“Chords” - Fires in the Mirror Part Five
I think she overall did really well. Her articulation with this character in particular keep the viewers attention and tell a lot about their personality (something she’s able to replicate and just about all other roles played). In terms of set, I think it was rather obsolete; however, this highlighted on the effect she may have wanted. I see it as her way to draw more attention to the character while giving a general look to the audience of the setting and context. I also found it interesting that, right at the end, she pans out to show a more full scene. For the majority of the clip, we see a very close and personal viewpoint. Lighting and sounds also come into play here. Lighting for this scene in particular are somewhat low and reflect off the red/brown background well. The sounds started out very elegant with soft, classical orchestra, but quickly we start hearing the clatter of the silverware and are reminded of the socioeconomic status of this person as they eat and sip wine during the interview.
